Monitoring provides continuous information about glucose fluctuations that is not otherwise obtained with intermittent testing. The intent is to provide additional information to the clinician to aid in improved overall glycemic control. This particular Guardian REAL-Time Continuous Glucose System is a pediatric model specifically for children and teenagers ages 7-17.

The MiniLink REAL-Time Transmitter attaches to your body separately from your infusion set and connects directly to the tiny glucose sensor. The glucose sensor is discreet, easy to insert, and virtually painless. The MiniLink REAL-Time Transmitter wirelessly sends your glucose data from the glucose sensor to the insulin pump every minute. An updated glucose value is displayed on the insulin pump every five minutes, meaning that it gives 288 readings in a 24 hour period.

The Medtronic Minimed Transmitter Adhesive Patch (Box of 10) is specially made for the new Real-Time Transmitter for the Paradigm Pump. It is made of a thinner backing material and is flexible and breathable.
