When you are shopping, it can make things a lot easier for you to understand the food labels for your food. You might find that if you eat too much fat, you could suffer unnecessary weight gain, which will make it harder for you to meet your weight loss goals.
All types of food that have fat and varying amounts of fat. There are also several different types of fats which can include saturated fats, trans fats, polyunsaturated fats and monounsaturated fats.
Saturated fat is typically found in foods that have animal origins. These foods include red meat, seafood, and poultry. There are also dairy foods that have saturated fat such as whole or reduced-fat milk, cheese and yogurt.
There is some transfat that is found in red meat and full-fat dairy foods. However, the trans fat that is dangerous for you comes from shortening and partially hydrogenated oils that are created by food processing. Trans fat increases levels of LDL, or bad, cholesterol.
The types of polyunsaturated fat are the omega-3 fatty acids and the omega-6 fatty acids. Animal-based sources for this type of fat include fatty fish and salmon. Canola oil, soybean oil, flax oil and seeds, and walnuts are good sources of polyunsaturated fat.
Monounsaturated fat, just like polyunsaturated fat, is considered to be good for your health. The foods and oils that are the best sources for this type of fat include nuts, olives, avocados and peanut oil
