traveling with diabetesWhen you have diabetes, you need to do a bit of extra planning when you travel. Here are some tips to help you make sure that you have sufficiently packed.

You should plan for lost luggage. Make sure that you have enough diabetes supplies so that they are distributed between two separate bags. Make sure that you keep one of the bags with you at all times. You should also make sure that you label everything in your luggage. This can help to recover your items if they are lost. Make sure that you have prepared a first-aid kit that has all of the supplies that you might need in an emergency. The first-aid kit should be maintained in your carry-on bag.

If you have a code key because you use coded test strips, make sure that you have the code key if you decide to get rid of the outer packaging for the test strips. You may store your plastic code key with your test strips.

Make sure that you also have a sharps container available so that you can safely dispose of any lancets and other biological waste. You should keep the container with you until you can dispose of it properly at home.
