How to Make Yourself Feel Better Now
Many studies have demonstrated the benefits of exercise in helping to improve mood for people that have depression. You don’t have to do 30 minutes of hardcore exercise. Instead, you can do moderate exercise, such as walking, yoga, or Pilates. Exercise can release endorphins, which are feel-good chemicals to improve your mood and self-esteem.
Eat More Fatty Fish
Fatty fish, like salmon, can help to improve your mood by providing omega-3 fats and vitamin D. The EPA in salmon, which is a type of omega-3 fat, has been proven to be the most effective at improving mood. You can also eat other fish, such as sardines, trout, Atlantic mackerel. Eating fish on a regular basis is also a good way to get more vitamin D.
Appreciate the Small Things in Life
If you are feeling down, perhaps it is because you have not been taking the steps to appreciate all that is good in your life. Take 5 minutes to write down a few things that you are happy for each day or somethings that make you feel proud. You’ll feel more optimistic and excited by life and less affected by negative things that happen in life.
