The next time you have the choice of taking the stairs or the elevator, you should opt for the stairs. If your destination is on a top floor, just take the stairs for a portion of the trip. When it comes to using an escalator, you should walk up the escalator instead of waiting for the ride. You’ll get to the top faster and you’ll also burn more calories. If you take mass transit, consider getting offer a stop earlier and walking the rest of the way. If you drive to the store, select a parking spot that is further away from the store. If you need to visit a friend’s house nearby, consider walking instead of driving if your destination is closeby.
The truth of the matter is that you can burn a lot more calories if you just opt to do something the old way. Over time these calories add up. Even if it is just a few calories per day that you burn, in one year’s time that can add up to a few pounds lost.
