Diabetes and a Woman’s Sexual Health
With the many problems that women go through on a daily basis, the last thing that they want to have happen is for something to go wrong in their sex life. We all have problems once in a while, however diabetic women can have much more difficulty in that department. It is important to keep in mind that it is not the diabetes that is the culprit, but the control over the blood sugar levels in your body. If you let your glucose get out of control, you are going to find that your sex life is just not what it used to be or what you want it to be.
Unfortunately, many women that are having problems in intimate areas are not speaking up and talking to their doctor about the issues. This, of course, means that things are going to go unresolved which can lead to frustration. When your glucose is not controlled, it can be harder to reach an orgasm and that of course can turn you away from sex. One of the issues that women may have is that they are not able to produce their own lubrication and this can cause pain and discomfort. When blood sugar is too high, this can prevent a woman from getting wet. Another side effect is that it can restrict the amount of feeling that a woman has as well. There is the possibility of sensation becoming impaired due to high levels of blood sugar.
Other issues that women with diabetes need to fight with are UTIs, or urinary tract infections, and yeast infections. Both of these are common in women with diabetes due to a combination of the moisture in that area and too much sugar. When you mix these two together, you are looking at trouble and they can make sex painful, even after they have cleared up because of the damage that they can cause to the inside of the body. From the moment that you start to have issues in the bedroom, it is important that you speak to your doctor about it. The earlier that you bring things out in the open, the faster you will be able to find a resolution and get back on with all aspects of your life. Depression can set in and make it harder to get back on track.
If you find that making your own lubrication is a problem, there are solutions that can help you out. It is important to make sure that you have a healthy diet, get the right amount of exercise, and take your medications the way that you are supposed to. By maintaining and controlling your diabetes, you have a better chance of your sex life remaining active with little concern. However, if you start to have problems that do not resolve themselves, you may just need some adjustment to your medication. Talk openly with your doctor to get the help that you need in order to keep your stress level down and your relationship a happy one.
