Skipping Sugary Beverages and Opting for Plain Water Might Help Divert Diabetes
Although disease does not discriminate, it does however affect men and women differently. When you look at diabetes, you are going to find that the risk factors for both males and females are completely different and that certain factors play a role.
For women, research shows that opting for plain water might help divert diabetes. Of course, we all know that drinks that contain sugar are not good for our health or our waistline. However, they can contribute to the risk of diabetes.
There has been much research done on the subject. It is only natural you may sit back and think that just because you drink water and nothing else that you are not going to get diabetes. That is not the case but it can decrease your risk.
The drinks filled with sugar that we love to drink such as fruit juice, sweetened ice tea and soda are bad in many ways including increasing the risk of diabetes.By substituting water for a glass of something filled with sugar you can decrease your risk. It is important to understand that risk is not determined by the amount of water that you drink but by the amount of drinks that are sweet.
If women would drink one cup of water in place of one cup of a sweetened drink they could decrease the risk of diabetes by 7 to 10 percent. This may not sound like a high number, but with diabetes having such a high number of casualties, this percentage is a great number.
In the United States alone, out of 12.6 million women, an average of ten percent who have diabetes. By drinking plain water in place of sweetened beverages the risk can be reduced by up to 17 percent.
They say that it all comes down to eating healthy and exercising. This saying pertains to so many different things in our lives. However, it is important to keep in mind that your past family medical history can also play a role.
If you have a family history of diabetes, it is even more important to be cautious about the foods that you eat and drink. A person needs to take extra special care of their bodies when the odds are working against them. Even though it is not inevitable you will end up with diabetes, your risk is higher.
Many may say that they do not like plain ordinary water and just will not drink it. If this is the case, you can always add a little lemon or lime to give it some flavor. Of course, if you can find a flavoring that is sugar free than that would be great to add to your list as well.
When women think about the benefits that can get from drinking water the reasons speak for themselves. Not only does it decrease your risk for diabetes but it also helps you to lose weight, but it also keeps your skin looking great, helps with your hair growth, and cleans out your system. With those reasons, why drink anything else.
